Simon Orr is a Senior Naval Architect and Senior Offshore Structural Engineer with 10+ years’ experience. He has worked in the following roles: • Operations Manager • Project Manager • Engineering Manager • Offshore Installation Engineer • Senior Structural Engineer • Senior Naval Architect • On-Site Production Engineer Simon’s varied career began in Germany as a naval architect working on concept cruise ship lifeboat and tender boat design. On return to Australia he became heavily involved in customisation and refit of Royal Australian Navy vessels and preliminary design of the Air Warfare Destroyer. He moved to the UK and into marine structural engineering and production support, working as a structural project manager for a major navy new building project and managing the outdoor lifting and turning of large aircraft carrier blocks. Simon moved into offshore oil and gas in Malaysia, starting at Petrofac with the Berantai and Cendor FPSO conversions and installations. He was a founding member of Daya Offshore Construction, where he has worked in senior engineering, sales and operation management roles. He now manages the operations, refit and modifications of Daya’s two vessels from the Norway office.
