Diwala is a digital platform economy for refugees, powered by blockchain, that enables skill verification, entrepreneurship and P2P donations.
The platform re-envisions the current currency solutions in camps, it removes the need for third parties in aid work and encourages P2P philanthropy and entrepreneurship.
“The average time a refugee will spend in exile is currently 24 years, that equates to 24 years of limbo” (UNHCR) This constitutes 24 years in which individuals are unable to move on with their lives. Diwala, will offer opportunities for refugees while in camp and helping expedite their integration into new communities once they have been resettled.
Diwala’s use of blockchain technology will benefit camp populations by providing an extra level of security and privacy. The current main security concern with centralized data is due to the nature of sensitive personal details being stored in vulnerable central third-party owned archives. This is one of the biggest concerns for refugees when providing personal information. However, with Diwala we can use blockchain to move control to the identity holder.
With Diwala’s blockchain technology we also avoid the possibility of many crimes associated with traditional legal tenders by creating a transparent and decentralised ledger. With this transaction history we will create digital resumès so refugees can showcase their skills. This allows for the growth of the individual and of the community as a whole.
Diwalas mission is to provide a tool for resourcefulness for displaced communities.
Diwala is tech built by purpose.
